================================================================================================ (No action is required to update from Version 3.2, or versions prior to 3.0)
================================================================================================ NOTE: Running WinSim21 will create a folder in the folder that contains the program. This folder is called RuntimeData. You should not remove this folder or its contents. If you do, the next time you run WinSim21 this folder/contents will be re-created, and you may be asked to re-supply registration information.

Added settlement error possibility. When the house only checks for blackjack
with an ace up; and players may split and/or double their hands prior to discovering that
the dealer has blackjack; and the house rules say that the house only wins the original
bet in these cases - the quite understandable mistake is for the house to claim all such
bets (especially in the case of a split hand that busts). This feature is only enabled
when Mode\Automation\Dealers\Mistakes\Settlement is checked. Although Insurance is a simple side-bet; it becomes a sore spot for dealers when asked to deal with unusual bets. Sometimes dealer gaffes will help you, but don't count on that! The house may attempt to take your original bet when you don't take full insurance, even though you have blackjack too! And sometimes the dealer will simply pay you even money, thinking you meant to take full insurance. Sometimes they'll short your insurance bet, paying 1:1 instead of 2:1. Look for all of these! This feature is only enabled when Mode\Automation\Dealers\Mistakes\Settlement is checked.
================================================================================================
In betting dialog, for Parlay, added the Type "Step Late Parlay". This betting system
begins by making double the minimum bet. Following any loss, the next bet will be the
same as this initial bet (twice the minimum bet). After winning one hand, the next bet
will be the minimum bet. After winning two hands in a row, the next bet will be twice
the minimum bet. After winning three hands in a row, the next bet will be three times
the minimum bet; and so on, continuing to parlay up the minimum bet for each consecutive
win.
In betting dialog, for Progressive, a combo-box for bet type has been added that includes
the following types:
Normal is the default, and gives the standard progressive bets. The Wait-n bets however, will continue making minimum bets for n losses in a row before starting a progression. Those systems with "Recoup" will add in the n-minimum bets to the progressive bet and try to recover those as well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.03 Aggressive Wait Betting In betting dialog, for Aggressive, a combo-box for bet type has been added that includes the types listed in 2.02. Normal is the default, and gives the standard aggressive bets. The Wait-n bets however, will continue making minimum bets for n losses in a row before starting the aggressive recovery progression. Those systems with "Recoup" will add in the n-minimum bets to the progressive bet and try to recover those as well.
The parlay side of aggressive betting is unaffected by these new types. In betting dialog, for Martingale, a combo-box for bet type has been added that includes the types listed in 2.02.
Normal is the default, and gives the standard Martingale bets. The Wait-n bets however,
will continue making minimum bets for n losses in a row before starting the Martingale
recovery progression. The Martingale betting will continue until either stop betting
limits are reached; or until the Martingale series is successfully depleted and needs to
be re-initialized (e.g. reset to 0-1-2-3-4-5). If the betting system is successful, and
the Martingale series is reset, then minimum bets will be made until there are n losses
in a row. Those systems with "Recoup" will add in the n-minimum bets to the last bet in
the Martingale series and try to recover those as well. In betting dialog, for Parlay, the combo-box for bet types now includes Patrick's Short Parlay and Patrick's Long Parlay have been added. These are positive-betting systems that begin with a unit bet (and resets to a unit bet following any loss). The sequences after n consecutive wins are as follows, until the maximum bet in the series is reached, and then remains at that level until a loss occurs. SHORT SERIES: 2-1-2-3
LONG SERIES: 2-1-2-3-3-4-5 In betting dialog, for Parlay, the combo-box for bet types now includes Tom's Parlay. This is a positive-betting system that begins with a unit bet (and resets to a unit bet following any loss). The sequences after n consecutive wins are as follows, until the maximum bet in the series is reached, and then remains at that level until a loss occurs.
TOM'S PARLAY: 2-3-4-5 In betting dialog, for Parlay, the combo-box for bet types now includes Dahl's Parlay. This is a positive-betting system that begins with a unit bet (and resets to a unit bet following any loss). The sequences after n consecutive wins are as follows, until the maximum bet in the series is reached, and then remains at that level until a loss occurs.
DAHL'S PARLAY: 1-1-(3/2)-(3/2)-2-2-3-3-5-5-7-7-10 In betting dialog, for Step, the combo-box for bet types now includes Contra-D'Alembert.
The opposite of normal (or D'Alembert) betting; your bet is increased after a win or
decreased after a loss, beginning with a unit bet. The bet is never less than a unit bet. In betting dialog, for Step, the combo-box for bet types now includes Oscar's Grind. Oscar's Grind is a betting systems that maximizes the number of ways to win a small amount while minimizing the number of ways to lose large amounts. It follows 5 simple rules.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.10 Count Betting Options The "Max Bet" option in the Count tab which limited count bets to the range of the Min Bet to this amount in Step Bet increments has been replaced by the "Series" combo box. In the bet amounts listed below, the default $5 table limit and $5 step bets are assumed:
These additional choices support Speed Counting
================================================================================================ "New Players" is a new menu item, appearing in the second position of the House\Rules menu and leads to the sub-menu for selecting one of the following:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.02 Bet Anytime - No Limit
This selection is how all previous versions operate; allowing new real or simulated players
to join the game at anytime.
This option allows players to enter at anytime; however, all bets are limited to $100 until
the end of the current shoe.
This option inhibits new players from making bets until the current shoe is complete.
This applies to real or simulated players in live action play or all simulated players in
background simulation mode. Updated Pop-up Rules display to show restrictions to players entering mid-shoe. If a player's maximum bet is restricted, the MAX BET shown appears with an asterisk (*) which is clarified at the bottom as "* Mid-Shoe Entry Limit $100". Alternatively, restricted play may be indicated by "- No Mid-Shoe Entry -".
================================================================================================
This menu selection defaults from the Cards\Style menu, and will display the face cards
and ace of spades using the original WinSim21 card design. This menu selection will display the face cards using face card design that look more like designs seen on traditional playing cards.
================================================================================================
Added "Debit Hands Played from Running Count" checkbox to support Speed Counting.
The custom count dialog should have "1" in the card count assigned to card values 2 thru 6
and a Starting Count of 31 (for single deck) or 27 (for 6-decks), a Pivot Point of 30 and
both checkboxes should be checked (Debit Hands... and Use Running Count as True Count).
This new menu item supports the early exit feature of the Speed Count system. Choices
include "No Limit" and "3 Below Pivot" thru "10 Below Pivot". Use "3 Below Pivot" for
single deck and "9 Below Pivot" for 6-decks. This control applies to the true count of any
card-counting system.
WinSim21 counts the cards the same as the Speed Count system, when setup as in 5.01, but
the count is recorded when the card is first seen; and the counting of the hands is done
at settlement (including splits).
Taking insurance based on the count requires that a counting play strategy be defined. To use this play system for simulated players check "Skill\Player n\Counter"
* The play counting uses difference between the True Count and the Pivot so the play count
is centered around zero. For speed counting, if you take insurance at +33, in the dialog
this would correspond to 33 minus the pivot (30) or a plus 3.
WinSim21 does not support hand spreading at this time. A new combo-box has been added to the Bet | Counting Tab as described in 2.10 above. ################################################################################################
The following issues with Version 3.2 have been addressed.
================================================================================================
When the suit payoff is set to 5:2 (for Royal Match side bets), the payoff rate displayed
in the popup is "2 to 1". The actual payoff is correctly calculated and paid during
settlement. This has been fixed, and the payoff ratio is now displayed as "5 to 2".
================================================================================================
From the step bet tab in the Bet Dialog, the default combo-box setting has been changed
from "Normal" to "D'Alembert", to match normally accepted blackjack jargon for this
betting system.
The WinSim21 Progression betting system, is normally referred to as "the Martingale" in
common blackjack vernacular. This convention has been adopted by WinSim21 to avoid
unnecessary confusion. It affects all dialogs that previously referenced "Progression".
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The WinSim21 Martingale betting system, is normally attributed to Labouchere. This system attempts to recoup two lost bets for each bet won. This convention has been adopted by WinSim21. It affects all dialogs that previously referenced "Martingale".
================================================================================================ When merging two or more players, the blackjack low water mark statistics were not calculated properly; and could indicate a positive low water mark. The highest possible low water mark is zero, the starting result.
================================================================================================ The frequency of simulated players commencing play has been increased. Also; a still higher probability of players entering a game where entry is restricted to the end of a shoe has been implemented.
================================================================================================
WinSim21 still recognizes the "pushing-away" motion as a sign of surrender; however,
most casinos who employ surrender recognize the "drawing the line in the sand" between
the player and the dealer as a sign of surrender. This horizontal motion could be
confused with the "shake-off" stand motion. So, a mouse signal that traces a horizontal
line, either left or right, without retracing any portion of it, will be considered a
signal to surrender, if and only if surrender is offered at the table. (If the table
offers surrender, but surrender is not a valid signal in the current play situation (e.g.
late surrender is offered but not double-regret), the signal will be ignored.)
WinSim21 still recognizes stand as before, EXCEPT when surrender rules apply. When
surrender is offered at the table, stand must be signaled as a "shake-off" with some
retracement of the mouse-drag movement.
WinSim21 may accept hand signals to hit an additional card after busting, if done rapidly
enough. This has been corrected to use the same checks as for the menu or keyboard
accellerators. Similar checks have been implemented for double and splits. WinSim21 would allow a player to sit-out by double-clicking on the spot with a minimum bet during the play of hands. This is inhibited from the other menus. This results in erroneous money results for the player. Sit-out is now prevented during play of a hand, and any such requests are ignored.
================================================================================================
If a new running count is selected from the Deck menu, the on-screen prompts for true and
running counts are not updated in the display (if this option is selected). They are now.
Currently the count bet did not reset based on the count of the newly shuffled bet for
the first bet of a new shoe for Live Action play, unless the player choose to adjust his
bet. Background play was done correctly. In those cases where the bet was adjusted, it
was reset to the minimum bet in all cases. It now makes the correct bet based on the
initial count of the shoe (which may start out slightly favorable in some systems, e.g.
one-deck Speed Counting).
When there are 5 or 6 spots, and the cards are manually cut, the deck partially obscures
display status info in the lower left corner of the Insurance Box. This count was not
properly refreshed following a cut. This has been fixed.
================================================================================================
When installing a custom count system, the count parameters are reset to the defaults
when the system is installed. Also, the Custom Count system is reset. This action
should save the custom count parameters to the newly installed count system. The custom
count system should be reset to its defaults. This now occurs. The default Pivot Point for the K-O (single-deck) system should be +1 (not zero). This has been corrected. The Pivot Point is one point less than the key point of the K-O system (the point at which betting starts to increase). This has been fixed.
================================================================================================
The text file exported for player's results failed to put a field delimiter (tab) after
"SITTING OUT", resulting in the mis-alignment of fields in the spreadsheet for such
players. This has been fixed. |
